horn problem

Hello Gents,

My name is Lou and I came across your forum while doing a search.

I got an 03 Silverado 1500 4x4. Its got about 42k on the clock and for the past month I have not been able to keep from blowing the horn fuse.

About 3 weeks ago a co-worker and I tore into the colum and i was able to locate the harness on which the power to the horn is fed. After some moving around of wires, disconnecting and reconnecting the harness I was able to keep the horn active. So i thought, Ok it must have been grounding out. Well less than a week ago, while making a right turn I leaned on the horn ( I'm a volly Firefighter, was on my way to a call, lights flasing and an old timer refused to get out of my way) and after a quick toot the fuse blew again. I just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if it was fixed, what was found to be the cause?

Thanks, Lou

1st off do you have a siren package and is hook up on it own circuits.

If it is then the only way you can be blowing that fuse is either the wire from the fuse block under the hood to the horns is grounding out or one/both horns are bad causing a high amperage draw.

Also why are you using your car horns to get people to move? I do MO river diving and while running code with sirens trying to use my horns is pointless. So I put air horns on my truck. (guarantee to got the old and stupid out of the way)
