Transmission Temperature

I had to have a servo replaced on my gauge cluster, and while I had that done, I had a factory trans temp gauge added to my cluster. My question is, how hot should it read on daily driving.. no towing. It's pretty cold out now, so I know it will run cooler than in the summer, but it hardly moves off of 100 degrees mark. I went on a drive yesterday for 1/2 hour on the highway, and it never went above that.

Ryan, not sure what part of the country you are in and how cold it is there, but I have upgraded my transcooler to a larger cooler for towing and my temps on a 50 to 60 degree day run about 115 to 120 when not towing. I have not had my camper hooked up since installing the Interceptor scan gauge so I really do not know what it will do then. My goal is to keep it in teh 175 to 185 range on a hot day when I am towing.

Does your truck have the OE trans cooler?

04 Tahoe with towing package. So, I would say yes to the trans cooler. I'm in NJ, so it's been pretty cold. It will creep just over the 100 degree mark.

My truck runs between 40-50 C (100-120) with a lot of in-town driving, but like C&A, haven't towed since installing a trans temp gauge (ie. Interceptor).

When you added the trans temp gauge, did you get a whole new cluster? My oil pressure gauge is on the fritz, so I thought I might add this as well if it is possible to do to a 2003 Suburban 1/2 ton.

Anybody know?

Never mind! I gave JP Customs a call and they said they could hook me up with a new cluster and trans temp for half the price the dealer quoted me. Not to mention, my local dealer said that I couldn't use any other cluster and it would cost me $587 to replace the oil pressure gauge with a new cluster. JP also does the programming for you. Very cool deal!

Update to my earlier posts: Got the cluster from JP Customs on Thursday, installed Friday, tested today and it works great! It still amazes me how little the dealership knows...and they sell these things! Oh, and I saved myself $300!
