Body lift kit?

Recommended Posts

I have an 05 GMC Sierra Crew Cab and wish it sat higher. Right now I think it looks like a grandpa truck the way it sits so low and would like to put a 2 or 3 inch body lift on it (Probably 3 preferably?). Does anyone know how much trouble or how hard it is to do or is it something that a shop should take care of? Also, do I go with the 2 or 3 inch lift (Don't see why it makes much difference that they have 2 different kits?). Also pictures of truck with the body lift would be nice if there are any out there? If I do raise it I would only do a body lift so I don't mess with drive train and I don't believe a body lift would void warranty?

Thanks for any help!

Hello,

There was a thread not too long ago (maybe a few days) about body lifts where a guy posted pics of his ride with a 3" lift on it. It looked really good, and to be honest, it's making me think I might do mine!

I'm not sure about the warranty, but you should expect to have to extend a few things (brake lines, stearing shaft, etc.). I know it will be easier if you have a lift, too. You can, however, do it yourself without a lift...it just takes longer. If you have some patience, it might be a good learning experience and also fun for you to tackle on your own, but if you are like me and run out of steam at 5:00 on a Saturday afternoon, it may be more worth your time to just have a tech do it for you. Plus, if you take it to a place like 4wheelparts or something, they gurantee their work.

A 3" lift would be cool, but how you do it is up to you. Just be prepared to get some more body lean going through turns!

Hope that helps, and best of luck!

I also did lift kit on my 2004 Sierra. If you want I can send pic.

If you don't mind, i would love to see a pic of your lift. i too am debating if i should do body or suspension lift on my Sierra as well.

thanks

I've thought about this before.... is there a big mpg loss with a lift (higher truck = more drag.)

Also, with a body lift kit, is there a front and rear bumper relocation kit with it? I think the body lifts that leave the bumpers low look goofy. What about the steering wheel shaft?

To the guys with a body lift, how does it do going 75 down the highway? Does it feel "windier" and less stable?

Just curious.

Thanks
