GMPP Cold Air Intake

Recommended Posts

Again, I was wondering if anyone has bought or installed this. The appealing thing about this is that it is actually GM approved and doesn't use oil on the filter. It also won't void your warranty so for me this puts to rest all the arguments about the dangerous effects of cold air intakes. It is expensive but looks nice and seem to be well built. Has anyone tried this or gotten any hp numbers?

Curious as to what the dangers of a cold air intake would be. I just purchased one on line and am waiting for it to arrive. I run a cold air intake on my wifes Jetta VR6 and i have seen no downfalls. But I love my truck a little more that her jetta so any pros/coons would be great.

The oil in the filter can get on the MAF and ruin it, and many people think that the high flow air filters in many of these kits do not filter as well as a traditional paper filter.

I've had one in my 4.8 Tahoe for about a week now. I'm still waiting for the computer to relearn. It appears to be giving me slightly better gas mileage by the onboard computer readouts.

Seat of the pants says that I've got a little more horsepower.

Sounds like a mini supercharger when you open the throttle.

All in all, I like it.

I have the GMPP CAI installed on my 07 Vmax.

I am pretty happy with it. It seems that it is better built and moresolid than the KN i had on my last truck. It is moreof a box with vented sides and a cone filter vs the kn fully exposed version. It also has a nice chrome top.

I didnt have much experience with my truck prior to the cai because i bolted it on the day after i bought the truck. I certainly did notice a nice gain in throttle response and a slightly throatier engine sound

I'm looking at the GMPP intake and still can't decide between the GMPP, the Outlaw or the Volant...At least I've decided on the exhaust :-)

The advantage of the GMPP is that if the truck is still under warranty and you purchase from the dealer and have them install it it will be covered as well.

I just ordered one of these from my supplier.I would like to hear more opinions on this before i buy it.The stock system does not look too restrictive, any advise/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

How much does installation cost, $500? Im very happy with my Outlaw. Cant beat the price or the dry filter.

The GMPP Intake uses oil-free filters as well so that is not a con of going with this intake. Other than cost, I can't think of any negatives for installing one. If you have a PCM tune with the stock intake, you may want to have it adjusted...That's about it. I'm still on the fence with the after-market CAI install...My 6.0 V-Max already has a decent CAI but it's probably more restrictive than the after-markets to quiet it down some. I think I'll get some of the other accessories purchased first - then decide on this one. Like I stated above, I will only consider 3 CAI's - the GMPP, the Outlaw Power and the Volant. After some research, I think they are the best available for the truck.

Good luck!

:banghead: Sounds good, I didn't think GMPP used dry filters! They appear to be good systems, have good reviews, and look pretty well under the hood aswell. I was just wondering what the dealer would charge for installation. For how simple it is they might still want an arm and a leg.

Here is what my dealer wants for the part and for the part w/install. Looks like about $60 to install it. I think I would just install it myself though.
