Suspension Lift Question

Figures this would happen - but I've been warned a lot not to do the 3" block in the rear, ford keys, and new shocks because my front end components will be stressed and go out within 5k miles. Now my only option left is a suspension lift. I would like a 4" lift, but now i've run into yet ANOTHER problem. I have to get a kit that says "w/ autotrac" since I have the autotrac transfer case. This is only ever 1/5 kits you see and on top of that I heard that you have to get a new drive shaft with this kit (once again due to autorac).

Can someone point me in the right direction to get about a 4" lift as cheap as possible (preferably shocks included so I don't have to scavenge for parts here and there).

Also, I thought all Z71s came with the autotrac pushbutton transfer case. Why has no one else mentioned this problem?

The auto track issue IS NOT a concern with a Knuckle lift

SO you have 2 lift options..

One uses new spindles and only lowers front diff 4" No drive shaft needed.

Second is a full drop lift which lowers the diff 6" , it is this kit that REQUIRES you get a new drive shaft.

Look on ebay the 6" knuckle lifts are under 1200 shipped ..

Man I am going to sound like an ass, but you are making this way more difficult than what it is. Just go to your local truck shop/repair shop and get them to help you.

I have a 2001 Z71 with the auto 4x4 and I have never seen a suspension lift that won't work with my truck, because I use a middle man to get all my parts and everything fits together. My only problem is that I can't find a pair of rims that have a 4.5" or less backspacing that I like.

i'm sorry that i'm making this difficult. It's just that I don't want to buy a new drive shaft or rims. I want to run 35in tires on my stock 17" rims (because I love them). I guess that means I'm with a body lift (so I can keep rims and drive shaft)

the only way you can see if you dont need a front drive shaft and new rims is to put it together and try it....sometiems oe wheels will fit with lift kits and sometimes they dont...4.5'' backspacing is sometiems a necessity but you might be able to get by with the stock wheels. and the front driveshaft is only required if it vibrates while your driving

Won't the Superlift FIT kit work for you?

Ya the F.I.T would work for him , he is trying to stay within a budget though.

Do a body lift , and turn the torsion keys up 1.5 inches to level truck. If you stick to stock rims a 315 series tire will be fine

i'm in the process of deciding now  it's either 3" body lift, level it, and tires or 2in AAL, level it, and new shocks (and tires)...can't decide...

and yes i'm trying to stay within budget... :)
