2007 Steering

Drove a new 2007 2500HD Crew with 6.0L & 3.73 rear late this afternoon. Package was LT1 and it was off-loaded this morning.

The new trucks have R&P steering set-up and I was wondering if anyone else had thoughts on the sensitivity or quickness of the steering. It seemed quite touchy or oversensitive to the steering input while the actual reaction of the truck lagged slightly behind. This is quite different from my brother's 2004 Suburban.

Is this just an issue for me sensing the difference between what I'm driving today and this vehicle, or has anyone else here felt the same? I figure its just me and that I would adjust to it, but wanted to know what longtime Silverado/Sierra owner's think if they've driven one with the new rack.

I haven't driven the new HD yet, but they have recirulating ball steering, not rack & pinion. The rack & pinion is only on the 1/2 ton.

I have the 1/2 ton with the rack N pinion steering and man this thing drives alot better then my 04 did, has a whole lot better turning radius and the truck is way tighter then my 04 was brand new plus I like the coilover front springs. GM did one hell of a job designing this truck.

So much for the salesrep at the stealership to know what he's talking about. :flag:

I should have known better

Drove a 2500 SLT 6.0 CC yesterday in a different city. That truck did not seem it exhibit the same "twitchiness" that the Silvy LT1 did a couple of days ago.

Might be able to chalk it up to pavement differences or possibly truck "package" differences but the Sierra sure seemed to drive/ride better than the Silverado.
