2002 2500HD Crew Cab ~ Stock Speaker Info

If some one could please, tell me what size speakers come stock in the front and rear door panels of a 2002 2500HD Silverado Crew Cab w/out Onstar

I checked Crunckfields Website and they claim there both 6-3/4 (but also claim thats an odd size and that some mods might need to be made)

I'm looking for direct replacement sizes

Also does anyone have any tips for removal of the door panels?

Thank you in advance

It's kind of tricky at first, but when you learn where all the hidden screws are, it's not that bad. go to your dealer and I'm sure they'll show you for no charge. If you want something that fits, get the Bose speakers that come with the upgrade. They're fairly sweet speakers.

A 6.5" will fit just fine. For some reason the stock speakers nowadays have huge surrounds on them. The speaker is the same size, if not smaller than an aftermarket 6.5". The factory speakers are components with separate tweeters, but you don't need to use tweeters. I wouldn't really recommend it if your using the factory head unit. It doesn't have enough power to run aftermarket components.

To get the door panel off:

Pull off sail panel by mirror. (No screws at all)

Pull off panel around the door handle. (No screws)

Pull off door lock piece. (No screws)

Take out a total of two screws. One slightly under the pull handle, and the other from where the door open handle cover come off.

Then slide the panel up to un latch it. There are no pop in connectors, it's all just lifting it up.

Disconnect the courtesy light, the tweeter, and the windows/lock/mirror panel.

Hope that helps.

Thats what I was looking for Brian

Is the removal the same for the rear door on my Crew Cab?

I'm thinking about the MB Quart PCE-216 component set as front and rear replacments (I'll end up w/a spare set of tweets )

As for a HU I'm running a Alpine IVA-D900 w/a Directed 500d 4 channel amp for mids and highs (which are currently stock & I've blown one rear)

So it's time to upgrade
