Tire size for lowered trucks ???

hey everyone, i have a ? about choosing the correct tire size when upsizing to a set of 20" wheels on a 2wd reg cab that has been lowered 2" in both front and back. hind sight being 20/20 i ordered a set of 20" wheels and tires that i thought would fit but when installed the front tires rubbed and just did not look right. they are 275/55/r20 and the front look way to tall. i like the raked look i had with the drop what size tire should i have used in the front to keep the raked look? i had to put my stock spindles back on and have the front end realigned to use my new wheels and tires but when i wear them out i want to know what size i should check out. thanx in advance for any advise!!! yea it did until recently, make sure that your bumpstops arecut in half. i also put helper bags on because i pull a little trailer the bags helped amazingly well.

check your bumpstops, drop shocks should also be a big help

i took the bump stops off and still bottomed out, even bought bell techs nitro drop shocks.

I've got a set of 22"s coming and I need to know what size tires I should go with. Right now I've got a stock 06 GMC 2wd Crew. I've considered doing 2" shackles with gas shocks/helper bags, because I need to tow a car hauler with around 3-4K. I'm thinking 265/35/22s!

I installed 2" drop shackles on my 07 classic and now i get a rubbing noise from under the bed, below the rear of the cab (reg cab). I hear it when I come to a stop or slow down quickly and sometimes when I go over bumps. I think it may be the rubber supports that hold the bed on the frame but Im not exactly sure. Im also not sure it is due to the 2" drop. I didn't install drop shocks. The truck has less than 4k miles on it. Anyone else have this problem? Any help is appreciated.

275-45-20 is the perfect size if you want a rake you can try 285-50-20 in the rear possibly..

this is what it looked liked with 2/4 drop on stock wheels and tires.

i had problems with the leaf springs hitting the bed on my 92 truck using longer shackles to lower it, maybe check for that?

sounds like you may have the shackles to tight. what type are the shackles. some have the polyurethane bushing which if you do not lube when you installed could make a rubbing sound when the truck weight shifts forward or back. i would put a shot of wd40 on the leaf springs where ever they could rub and see if it went away. i also picked up a squeak in the rear of the cab below the drivers side and it ended up being rubber washers on the grounding strap between the frame and the cab. just a few things i've seen . lol, jd

My vote goes for 275/45r20's as well. I had 305's on my Avalanche and they rubbed a bit, 22's though.

same here, go with the 275/45R20.

I got a 2006 Chevy Silverado 2wd reg cab short bed I installed the BellTech 6400 Rear Lowering Shackles kit. when I idle at 30-35mph it make's sounds if I give it gas it stops. I know it's not exhaust but at the same time I installed power Stopped crossed drilled and slotted rotors but it don't sound like it's the rotor it sounds under the truck in the rear but can't figure out what

Also has anyone used BellTech Nitro Drop 2 Performance Shocks on a 03-06 Silverado?

I find them not to bad price on Ebay brand new I was wondering since It says front are 0-5" Drop and the rear is 2-4" drop dose these shocks drop your truck also or is it just saying you should only use them if you have drop the truck in those ranges? And how well are the shocks dose it ride better I know mine is rough ride compare to the newer silverado now days.

Also on my truck with 20" Helo wheels I'm running 275/50/R20 tires that are Front Sumitomo H/P and Rear is same tire size 275/50/R20 Goodyear Eagle GTII I don't run at all I had a stock factory height truck and only installed Belltech 6400 Rear Lowering Shackles kit you guys might be lower then I am.
