Adding Fog Lights

i say don't spend your money unless you live in an area with ALOT of fog. I rarely ever use mine....

I haven't cut mine out since it came from the factory that way, but i wouldn't think it would be too hard. just use a drill to get a initial hole, then use a saw or dremel tool from there, then take a file and smooth the drill shavings from the plastic.

Fog lights can be a big help with over all visibility any time, not just when it's foggy out.

And besides, if it's REALLY foggy out, any other lights can make visibility even worse.

I wouldn't think it'd be too difficult to install the lights/cut the grill, so if you feel confident you can do it, go for it.

I am considering adding fog lights to my 2003 Sierra. My question is has anyone ever cut out the grilles that are located where the fog lights go? I am considering buying these.

Thanks

Cutting out the holes is no problem at all. I used a sawzall to open them up and a file/sandpaper to smooth the edges. A 5" holesaw from Home Cheapo would have been easier though. Instead of the OEM kit I fabbed a couple brackets and installed a set of PIAA 540's.

Good Luck.

If I had to do it again I would still buy the PIAA 540 fogs but with clear lens instead of the plasma ion yellow just for appearance. The yellowish colored lights have proven to be excelent in foggy/rainy poor visibility conditions though.

How about a post of them turned on in the day time so I can see how yellow they are. I was thinking the same thing with the 540's.

Thanks!

How 'bout a night time pic, granted not a very good one but it's all I've got right now. I'll see if I can get a better one tomorrow.

My fog light kit arrived this morning and I got right to it. I was amazed at how easy it was and also how accurate the instructions were. It took about an hour and a half and they work as advertised. I was also glad to see I can turn the fogs on while the headlamps are off.
