Air Conditioning Help Please

I am looking for some advice, 1995 Chevy K1500 I have to replace my AC pump on my truck, I understand I will need to replace the drier canister as well. I like doing my own work to save some money are there any other things that need replaced? I am hoping this will get me up and running after I recharge it. Do I need to have someone vac down the system before I charge it back up? Where is the A/C Orifice Tube located in the system? Thanks for any info you can give.

the compressor is easy to change, they recomend changing the dryer, but I didn't. You do need to pull a vaccum though. let it set for a while after it's in a vac to check for leaks.

and if you reall really want to change the dryer, it is on the pass side close to the firewall, next to the reciever.

 

 

If you don't leave the system open to the elements you don't really need to change the dryer.

The orfice tube is on the condenser outlet pipe (lower one),remove the passenger side parking lamp assembly and it will give access to it.

You will need to add oil to the compressor before installing it,yes you need to ge it vac down,this checks for leaks and removes inpurities from the system.
