Factory Sunroof Question

I'm looking for information on the sunroof on the new body style extended cab Silverado. Is there a sliding panel that blocks all sunlight, or does it have the old "screen" type material in the older style trucks? I'd like to order a truck with the sunroof option, but if I can't block the midday Texas sun, then I'll just do without.

Thanks

From the looks of the brochure which has a picture - the GMT900 GMC has a sliding panel - like you'll find in most cars - that blocks all the sunlight. No longer a screen from what I can tell - I ordered one.

Was that on an extended cab or crew cab or both?

didn't specify configuration - just showed a picture with a regular sunshade - the handle of one anyway... clearly visible. I imagine that is the set up for all the trucks with the roof as an available option.

The shade is mesh on the ext.cabs,As it is on mine, and solid on the crew-cabs.

And as mentioned already, the glass slides above the roof on ext.cabs and slides into the roof on crew-cabs.

So, how do you like it? Does the shade block enough sun?

the ext cab that i test drove had glass with mesh, did an ok job with the light, hard to say how much heat it will let in during the summer, to noisey for me at highway speeds though.

Its OK but I'd rather it be solid to block all the sun.

I did cut a piece of cardboard to stick up there on long trips when I don't have it open and don't want any of the sun to come through!

When I get a chance I'm going to the local upholstery shop and see if he can make it solid for me by stitching a piece of cloth to it.

Also,Mine makes no noise at all,Its wisper quiet!

Mine's quiet,, but I still prefer the solid type. I'll get some more driving done with the truck to see if it's actually a problem for me.. if it is then I'll have to take a look at something like MS3DALE
