Installing A Harness Adapter For Xm

Ok. I just ordered the GM9-AUX for my 2000 Silverado. I have the factory stereo/cd with the remote cassette deck. The harness states that I must disconnect the cassette deck. The harness has a 9 pin that plugs into the back of my radio and then has a connector to accept the trucks original plug. I have the shop manuals. My questions:

 

1) Regarding the TheftLock, I have no idea what my code is and never really thought about it. Does the dealer generally enable this feature? Is what I'm undertaking going to require some "unlock" when I get done?

 

2) To disconnect the cassette deck, is there simply a plug that I unplug from the back of the unit?

 

Looking at the shop manuals, this looks like about a 30 minute undertaking. Am I underestimating the relative ease of this? Thanks a million.

Regarding question 1) The left lock should not be affected as you are still using the same radio and computer module. However if for some reason it does lock up then you will need to take it in to the dealer. I did something similiar to my Tahoe and it never locked up.

 

2) My Tahoe has two plugs but it is simple to identify which pin settings are needed.

Never saw the last respone until it was too late. Glad to hear it went smooth. Did the Anti-Theft system lock your radio?
