A/c Questions

99 GMC Yukon. Rear air gets cold, front air not so much, just barely cooler than outside air. So I bought a gauge from AutoZone. It reads that it is charged, almost too much. Is that my problem? It's about to get hot here so I was wondering what I could do to my system???

So AC works in the back seats but not the front? It should all be coming off of one AC system under the hood so I'd say you've got an issue with the ducting baffles not working right up front.

What about the system being right on the verge of being over charged? How accurate are the gauges for the home mechanic?

Sorry, can't help too much with ac issues. I would say that "verge of overcharged" is probably the same as "fully charged" (like fire extinguishers). I wouldn't worry about that. the fact that the AC works in the rear ducts means the system is operating ok. Something is keeping the cold air from entering the front ducting. I've never torn into the duct system to know exactly how they work on suv platforms.

Thanks... I'll check into this afternoon. It's getting on my nerves. I can turn the front a/c on and it's luke warm... turn the rear a/c on and the front gets cold, turn the rear air off and the front will stay cold.....????

when checking your AC charge, make sure the engine is on with A/C on and the fan is on HIGH. Its should be about 45 PSI fully charged

Should the setting be on fresh air or recirculate? Should the rear A/C be on or off? If on, what fan speed?
