A/c Question On '02 Tahoe W/ Rear Ac....

I evacuated the entire system and keep it on a vacuum for 45 minutes and then recharged with 42 oz of R134. The system does not cool when used in park after it has been sitting in the heat for a while. Once you start moving and get some airflow across the condenser it blows ice cold. It has over 100k miles on it and I was wondering if I should be looking for a weak compressor or restricted condenser or orifice tube? High side pressures go really high around 450psi when parked and low side around 60psi.

No, your not doing it right. To get 5 posts don't just spam crap in someone else's thread. Find a thread you can add something too, or a thread asking an opinion (tires, sparkplugs, gas, etc...) and post something worth reading.

Back on topic. The engine fan should be able to keep air flowing through the condensor even while stopped. Do you notice your engine temp climb a bit while stopped? MAybe your fan is'nt working as it should?

Giant, thanks for the reply! I think rms-man may appreciate it as well, my "spam" moved his thread to the top, and you provided a helpful answer, to him...

I understand what you mean about the spam. However, this forum is titled "ask the technician, is it not? Which is what I thought I was doing, until I saw the requirement for the 5 posts (kind of silly, IMO).

At the time, I had a question "for the technician" about the rear A/C in my Yukon..

So when I've got all my tools, gauges, etc out, the rear seats removed and the rear blower all torn apart, I'm kind of looking for an answer NOW, not after I post 5 nonsense replies about how good my '91 silverado is still running @ 170K miles, ot how we lost our perfectly good '99 Yukon in Katrina, or how I have the infamous steering column knock as well in the above Yukon...

See what I mean...

Time will tell what kind of person and tech you are by your answer to either this post and/or my other one about the rear a/c...

Thanks in advance
