Gm Accessories Bug Shield

I am thinking of purchasing a bug shield from the GM Accessories store because they are the only ones that offer it in my trucks body color, Victory Red. Anyone tried thier bug shields and what are the pros and cons? Thanks in advance !

i don't know about the ones for chevy, but the ones for the GMC's sucked. it was to wide, and way to flimsy(sp). i took it off and bought me a "stampede" deflector. much stiffer than the GM brands. the GM one would lay down almost touching the hood at speeds. that i really didn't like.

I've had one on my '99 since new and it's excellent. Very tough even at -40 degrees. Yes it does deflect bugs but they just hit higher up on the windshield. The faster you go the lower the bug line gets. Mainly it blocks rocks from hitting the front edge of the hood and probably helps bouce them over the windshield.

Got it today and installed it. I'm impressed by the quality. I was a little concerned by the clips, but I think it turned out great.

I have the GM Accessories bug shield on my '07 Sierra. I like the painted surface of the shield, the unpainted plastic shields appear to dull with age. I have had some insect splatters high on the windshield. Four days of bug shield ownership does not make me the best critic. Will wait and see how it stands up to the test of time.

They're not too bad. They do actually deflect bugs. I had the regular smoked one and the only con was that I couldn't get it clean. The bugs would literally just stick to it and after a while it looked like crap. It was on the truck when i bought and have since taken it off and think it looks a lot better. Although I do really like the look of that red one!
