Max Tire Size

I am looking at new tires for my 2003 Silverado 1500 HD. There are a lot of posts about max tire sizes but I could not find any relevant information on this specific model, mostly found info on max tire sizes for the 4x4 models. Can anyone tell me the max tire size that I can put on this truck without any modifications? I am looking to put a 285/75/R16 on but doubt it will fit. :happysad:

Thanks in advance as always.

I just put on my 2nd set on my 2001 Silverado 1500HD.

Brigestone Dueler AT REVO 285/75/16 Load Range D. They improve the ride a noticable amount, but you will have to run tire pressure at nearly max psi. I'm running front at 64psi and rear at 62psi. Made these adjustments during the first set. Rotate and balance every 3k. REVO's are fantastic read up on them at www.tirerack.com I got 65k miles on this set.

Back to the tires and if they will fit. Yes they will. They will only rub a minor bit when backing and you are cranking the wheel to the max. A friend bought the same size and trimmed his wheel well liner a inch and they never rub. I left it alone and after a few tire rotations and after they wore down a few 32nds they never rubbed again.

Hoped this helped you out.

Yes, thank you very much. How much did you pay for a set of 4? Thanks again!

TireRack.com wants $175.00 ea total of $772.00 with shipping. Firestone quoted me $863.00 out the door. I pitted Tire Plus and Firestone against one another and Tire Plus got me out the door for $810.00 and they tossed in the road hazzard for free to really get my business. At $28.00 each tire I jumped on it. I could not get Firestone to toss in the road hazzard.

I told the Firestone Manager that I will see him this weekend for my alignment. I bought lifetime alignment and wheel balance and rotation when I bought my first set from Firestone. The alignment and balance are for the vehicle and not the tires.

In the end TireRack is nice but would have to wait then got to Base and mount and balance them myself so the extra $35.00 was worth it to me.

I ordered some Bilesteins from AUTOZONE today for $59.00 each and getting all corners covered. $246.00 for all four HD Bilsteins. That is with free Fed-X next day shippment. Can't beat that anywhere on the web or Ebay.

Hope this helped.

The shocks seem a bit overpriced...I can get 4 Rancho 5ks for 150 bucks shipped, or 9000s for a little over 250...But I guess you get what you pay for.

Bought a 1500 HD and am about to buy a set of tires, and don't know if the tire size was changed so does anybody know what is the stock tire size for the 1500 HD?

What kind of look are trying for? Off road or street? I was running 305-50-20's on my '04 2500 non-HD crew cab with Quadrasteer. I only had to trim the fender liners at the front of the front wheel wells and they fit just fine.

I was hoping not to have to trim anything, but I was looking at off-road type tires. Specificically the Nitto mud grapplers. But I don't know if they will fit, also I was looking for the closest size to stock for them. Also noise is an issue.

The overall height of my tire & wheel combo was 32". Maybe if you don't go as wide you might not have to do any trimming.
