I am considering buying a wrecked 78 Chevy truck and putting the engine and tranny (350/350) into a 71 Chevy truck running a worn out I6 and Powerglide.

Does anyone know how hard this is?

How much the parts will cost and what I need?

Anywhere I can find information/howtos on the swap?

I know this for a fact, you will need a new tranny mount and you need to check the legnth of the driveshaft. Not sure but you may need a steering colunm for thr 3 speed auto or the right linkage. Those trucks came with both so if you wanna do it right find you a column. The only other thing is the 78 motor has HEI distribuator. 71 has points (if original). To use the Hei all you have to do is locate the + wire on the old coil cut the end of the wire off and splice one on off of the 78 (BIG RED WIRE) on dist cap.. You will also need a bigger radiator for the v8 swap. And throttle hook up on a 78 is a cable 71 is a metal rod.

The powerglide and turbo 350 have different case lengths. You'll need a new prop shaft.
