4.8l Bore/stroke Kit

Recommended Posts

Well I am curious as to weather or not a 4.8L bore/storke kit exists. I was looking around on ebay and i didn't see anything. I want something that would push it over 5.3l, otherwise i might just replace the motor. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I'd think that it would be cheaper to just buy the new motor.

But I've not priced new ones lately. I know I can get a used 5.3 (intake to oil pan, with accessories) for under $1500. Less with exchange.

buy a bigger motor, then build on that one if thats what u want, if u just need a replacement, just buy a 5.3 and drop her in!

I thought a 5.3L was an already bored and stroked 4.8, and the 6L from the 5.3L. Couldnt you at least buy the crank, rods and cam for the 5.3 and fit them, minus the boring? And the pistons with the boring?

so i am looking around and here is what i have found, not sure if these would work though

or

for crankshafts. Not sure if that is like the stock one for the 5.3 or not, because it cam up under 4.8, 5.3 and i think 6.0.

for rods.

If you think that this would work let me know, i might get it and then i would replace my heads, cam, and intake manifold.

Well now i need to get your opinions. I can either get the items mentioned in my last post ( if they would bore it) or i could buy a used 6.0 off of ebay with ecu/ecm for 4K plus shipping. Only thing is that it has 78K miles on it. I was thinking that boring my motor i would also need to reprogram my ecu, and that may take some work. So what do you guys think

with that many miles on it for $4k i would look around at a local junk yard. find a good lq4 or lq9 and bore it to 402 or up to a 408. even if you find one with over 100k on it, as long as the block is sound, crank, rods, pistons, will be scrapped any way. so look around and you may find a good deal for a lot less..

good luck
