Best 8.1 Tune (wester, Nelson, Or Pcmforless)

I'm shopping for a custom PCM tune for my '06 Sierra 2500 w/8.1. I'd like either 87 or a dual octane tune.

Is there much difference between these 3?

Wester's is $1079, PCMforless is about $375 and Nelsons is about $430. This includes the core which I intend to keep since my truck is still under warranty.

Wester's core at $550 seems outrageous so I'm leaning towards Nelson or PCMforleess.

Any feedback from other 8.1 owners?

Wait4me would be another option. They're $150 with no core charge. I called Nelsons because they are about an hour from me and asked them what made their tune better than the others. The person on the phone said their service was great. Not very convincing IMO.

New to the forum, own a 2003 motorhome with a 8.1L. Do these programs work with a motorhome?

Find a tune that fits your needs and give that person a call,I'm sure they will help. You have to let them know exactly what you have.

I don't have the 8.1 but do have the 6.0. Do yourself a favor and call Jesse Bubb at Wait4Me. I have it in my 2003HD and pull it at the local fairs and it is kicking ass. Everyone else has alot more HP but he must have given me something special. His price is $158 which includes shipping and you will still have your stock computer.

Excuse this old timer's ignorance, but what the hello is a custom PCM tune? What does it do? Does it affect GM warranty?

Thanks

1. Yes these work on motorhomes, be sure you give them the details when you buy of all the specs on your motorhome. Do it.

2. Wester is a good tune. But I think you have screwed up their pricing quote, sounds like you are including the price of the core as if you are not going to swap it out. No way the cost is a grand. When you swap out the computers or however you are going to do it with them, you don;t get charged. It is probably more like 4 to 5 hundred unless something drastic has changed. And remember with westers, they keep re-tuning for the life of the vehicle. I had the 93 tune on my 8100 and it held up for three years and ran damned good. However, towards the end of last year when I bought some other tunes for my Vette and other tunes , it seemed like the customer service was taking a dive southward. For my money I would not go through the motion again. There are other providers and I don't like to buy from people that make you feel like they are doing you a favor to let you give them money.

Boomer,

How is the 93 hot tune treatin ya? i'm looking at getting a wester's tune but don't know how much power i can gain. I'm losing a lot due to a 6" superlift and 35x14.50 mud grapplers. Looking to regain that lost power and improve my 7.5 mpg in the city.

[The 93 Westers tune was great. It really performed well. westers was the first one to get rid of the lag from the fly by wire lag from 0 to 3000 rpm built in torque management. It is a good product.
