Newbie With New Truck

Hi all.

 

I just bought my first pickup truck last week. An 07 Sierra Ext. Cab 4x4 Z71. It is a sweet ride, but I'm still getting used to it. I have driven Camaros all my life, I have had 3 of them, so the switch to full size truck it taking a bit to get used to.

 

I have a few questions about some terminology that I have seen on this site:

 

What does NBS mean, I'm guessing that it means New Body Style as apposed to the Classics. Am I correct?

 

Also, I have seen some people refer to their trucks as gmt900 (I think), I don't remember seeing this anywhere on my window sticker, is this some sort of GM serial number for our trucks? And what does it mean?

Good choice! Yes, NBS stands for New Body Style. Actually, '99 up are NBS and pre-'99 are often referred to as OBS (Old Body Style). The '07 NBS are sometimes referred to as NNBS.

 

GMT900 refers to the '07 NBS, while GMT800 refers to the previous body style.

My first was an 87 coupe, I had that when I was 16. I sold that at 146K and bought a 91 RS, t-tops, fully loaded. That got totalled in an accident, (stupit Tojo drivers). Actually got a nice check for the insurance company for it though, enough for a nice down payment on the 98 Z28 I bought. The Z28 is my favorite to date. 5.7 with the 6 speed. t-tops, fully loaded. It was starting to show its age thought, dull paint and it needed a new clutch and some other tranny/rear end work. I was going to keep it as my spare car, mabye fix it up a little and paint it, but since Chevy decided to bring back the Camaro, I figured I would just get rid of the 98. I traded that in when I got the Sierra. The Sierra is a two year lease, so when the two years are up, the Camaros should just be in thier second year back. So Ill trade in the truck for a camaro, or another sierra, who knows.

welcome i like camaros alot sounds like you had fun driving everyday....so im guessing you have the 5.3L in your truck? i love the look of the new sierras which is kinda funny i used to like silverados more then sierras but dang what a nice looking GMT900 alot better IMO then the NBS silverado. im sure you will love your truck though most of us do
