Bose Sound System/radio Problem - Strange Behavior

Just purchased an 04 Silverado SS with the 6-speaker Bose sound system and 6-disk CD changer stereo. If you turn the radio off with the ignition on, and then turn the radio back on, the left front channel disappears (both the left driver door speaker and the tweeter on the pillar). Everything else works fine.

 

Now if you stop, open the door, turn the ignition off, then back on again, the left front channel will come back on, until you close the door and turn the radio off again. I can make it do this just about every time I try it.

 

I know this sounds like smoke and voodoo, but it drives me nuts. I got a 3 month, 3000 mile bumper to bumper warranty on the truck when I bought it since it was certified. I'll let the dealer know when I take it in for a scheduled lock tumbler replacement on the driver door (they had the door apart trying to figure out why the key wouldn't work and had to order a new lock cylinder).

 

Any ideas?

OK, I'm gonna bump this up. Here's an update for anyone that ever has this symptom. Truck is under a GM "Certified Used Vehicle" warranty. So dealer first installed a new Bose amp, supposedly fixing the problem ..... NOT. Still has the same symptoms.

 

Just took it in again yesterday and they called and said diagnostics now say it's the head unit. They've ordered an "exchange" radio head, which presumably means they are going to swap out and install a rebuilt/refurbished radio. I have no problem with that as long as it works properly. My question to any GM Tech is "Is this normal for warranty work?" Why wouldn't they just install a new head unit?

all the radios and instrument clusters we get are exhchanges, we get them from a place that rebuilds them, a new radio is like $700, a rebuilt one is like $300, saves gm money since there junk and evry 03-06 c/k truck will have a radio and a cluster replaced at least once in its life time

Problem solved. It was the head unit, not the Bose amp, although they also replaced the amp as a first guess.
