Lifting 4.8 V8

I have a nbs extended cab 4.8 with 3.23 gears 2wd. i was wondering if i could run 33" tires and a level kit on it or a 4" lift with 33" tires. Would i have to re gear to 3.73 or 4.10. does anyone know how much a re gear will cost. any information would be great.

With that gear ratio and 33's you are going to notice a pretty noticeable difference in acceleration and fuel mileage. The 4.8 is a strong motor, but they like to come alive up top not down low. 4.10 would be really good depending on what type of driving you do and if you like to tow. Not to sure on the size lift you would need, bu tI'm sure someone will chime in and let yah know.

4" Lift and 4.10 to4.56 Gears or Level it and maybe 285's (33") tires will work, top of front wheel opening should be around 38" to fit 33's. New gear set around $150.

I'll be moving to WA soon, so I thought about getting 33s on mine with these wheels. The tires now are 30.25" and I think they are too small. I already have the 2.5" level kit and I think there's enough space now. This picture was taken after level kit and before alignment. Since aligning the front has dropped back down a little, but you can see there is still lots of space there. I was also wondering about gearing too. I don't even know what mine is now. It's also a 4.8 1500.
