Problem With Keyless Entry On 2003 Silv.

MY brother has a 2003 Silverado with keyless Entry. And Like I said on the topic description..One day...it just stopped working. At first he thought it was just the batttery in the remote, until he tried his other remote, and niether of them work. So he changed the batteries in both of them (not sure why lol) and nothing happend. So I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions as to what he might want to check. They are the stock remotes, but the funny thing is, is that the panic and the lock buttons both still work..The unlock button is the only problem. Thanks.

Might be the contact pad under the button. Try opening the remote and blowing it with a can of air. I would try a more aggressive route, but also possibly more problematic. If that doesn't work as an absolute last resort try cleaning it with alcohol and a Q-Tip. I know you are supposed to clean the eye of a portable CD player like that, so I would guess it wouldn't be that bad for the remote, but it could also end up frying the entire remote.

 

Also remember to take out the battery. Getting zapped while cleaning it wouldn't be too much fun.
