Headlight Switch

So I had the headlight switch/dimmer module out to replace the burnt out bulb with an LED and out of nowhere this little brass circle thing fell out and I've spent hours and can't figure out where it's from... So now seeing as I have auto-headlights at night when the headlights come on the dimmer switch seems to think its all the way at the bottom, so no interior dash lights... If I scroll the dimmer all the way up it turns on the dome but still nothing on the dash. Was this mysterious little circle that important? It looks like all the circutry is still connected, any ideas?

Figured out what the little wheel was for, still having the problem, anyone understand how the dimmer

works?

If not and I'm gonna just have to replace the switch, could I use one of the newer ones that turn back a little further for a blackout when parked? Are the harnesses the same/compatible? Any help is appreciated.
