Opinions On A High Milage 3500 Please

What do you think about this truck please? He is asking $4200.00. I should not be put off by the mileage or the horse towing? That engine should have another 100K miles in it if it was properly mainatined so far? According to kbb, it is priced under book.

 

 

 

1997 Silverado Dually Extended Cab Pickup 3500 Desiel, 2wheel drive. aprox 210k miles desiel engine and is in good shape. Some dents on the tailgate and a few chips on body. Has custom racks, bumper, sidesteps, a/c, tilt wheel, power everything, cruise and was used to tow horses by former owner. Has tow package w/5 speed and gooseneck hitch in the bed. Interior is gray and in great shape

Find out how heavy the horse trailer(s) is (are), and how often he pulled it. My uncle has a 92 Duelly, and it is in great shape, and was when he bought it, but with the way he pulls his trailers, I wouldn't want to buy it. Really it depends on how much weight he put behind it, how often, and how he drives. Pulling horse trailers definitly isn't good for suspension (at least with mine it isn't). Horses aren't like TT that don't move around, they move and add to the pressure.

 

I will sum it up like this: if you were buying the truck from me, pulling horse trailers and all, I could definitely say buy it, I don't pull off hard when I can avoid it, don't go into heavy stop and go traffic with a trailer, and I would only pull a maximum of 20 times a year.

 

My uncle on the other hand, will go into the city just because, will spin the tires taking off, and all around dogs his stuff.

 

Look at the truck in person, and decide if you can do something like this.

ASK THE OWNER WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME HE HAD A INJECTION PUMP PUT IN IT. GO on a long road test and make sure it doesn't stall. Really the only major flaw with the 6.5 is the injection pimps.
