Nbs Sle Trim - How Do You Get Into The Dash?

Did you change your own head unit?

I have an '07 NBS Sierra with SLE trim (work truck dash) and will be replacing the audio soon. How do you get the OEM radio out?

take your fingers, and grip the top of the trim peice (that the A/C vents are in) .. and give it a tug ...

Are you serious? Is that really how you get them off?

Yep, it's that easy. I start at the upper right corner, pull straight out to release the clip, then work across the top. Then I use both hands and go down both sides in parallel, pulling evenly to release additional clips. Once you have the surround removed, there are four screws that hold the radio in place. I think it's a 7mm hex. On my truck, I also have to remove two additional screws for the HVAC control and remove it first before pulling the head unit.

on all models you have to remove the A/C control as well .. it sits on top of the bottom of the bracket for the radio ...

 

the 'up level' dash is the same ... trim peice just yanks right off...

If the dash is anything like an o3, you have to turn the key on and lower the steering wheel. Make sure u have ur parking brake on. Grab the top left corner of the front of the dash. It will break loose the clip. Then follow it around until all the clips are disengaged. Then remove the dash. Good luck.

I just replaced my stock radio with a Pioneer Nav on an 03 Silverado. I did not have to do anything with the AC bracket, etc. Just the 4 screws and disconnection plugs and wires.

he is talking about the NBS (actually, nnbs or GMT-900) ... its dash and setup is way different then the ones before it .. no more worry about breaking off the emergency flasher knob ... etc... etc ...
