Unknown Ses Problem

I have a 1994 Chevy C1500 5.7 Liter Extended cab.

 

Service engine soon light flashes fast at idle, slow on acceleration, and intermittently the rest of the time. When I test it with and OBD 1 cartridge, it flashes code 12 over and over ad over again, indicating that all is well. I have reset the ECM by disconnecting the Neg. terminal of the battery for about 30 minutes.

 

Turn the key on and the light goes nuts again. I don't get it. Can I get some help here? Have to smog check this thing soon!!

C'mon, Somebody, ANYBODY? I am drivin' myself nuts here trying to figure out where this problem is coming from.

OBD1 systems don't have any codes that would make the ses light flash like OBD2 systems. My guess is the cicuit for the ses light or the cluster.

Man, 1stly, thanks for responding! I haven't owned a Chevy since I was 17, about 12 years ago. What should I look for to correct the problem?
