Don't know if it happened at the apartment complex or at work. Friend saw it at work and told me about it at 1030 this morning.

Door: Lightly keyed. One scratch about a foot long.

Tailgate: Two three foot long DEEP scratches.

Dealer can't even look at it till thursday morning. Had to make an appointment. Said he could probably fix it the first week of January (after the holidays).

Guns loaded. I am positively ready to KILL. Execute all cowards NOW.

Whoever did this must think I am a Bad MF if they can't say something to my face.

To hell with it, I'm so mad now, I can't speak.

I'm with you on that one, i saw a guy ready to key my truck once, he got a right hook across the face and was down before he knew what happened.  I just took off.

If you need a passe, I'm ready, jut give me the word.

Same thing last yr happened to my truck.  However it wasnt that deep (scratch is still there after wet sanding).  Looks like someone walked by and their zipper caught it.  2-3ft long scratch.  Bodyshop wanted $400 minimum to repaint tailgate.  Screw that

Hope you find the worthless ^&$%*^$*#

That's what I'm wondering General. It's been like a month now. They are definitely on the short list, but I figured if they came back, there would be more damage, tires or something. None of the other vehicles around me at the complex were hit last night.

I'm in the military and have a nice parking place close to the building I work in, so I kind of doubt it happened there.

Although, I'm the Leading Petty Officer for my branch and as such, am often seen as the "heavy". I was just selected as Instructor of the Quarter for my department and am up for Instructor of the Quarter for the Command. I drive a beautiful brand new truck and because of my selections, have a priviledged parking place. Maybe some jealousy or some student payback going on. But again, it was in a high vis spot on base, but it was still dark when I got there this morning.

I think for whatever reason, I was targeted and it wasn't random. I can't help but feel that there may be more to come. This could get expensive.

Called Geico just now partick. They will appraise it tomorrow morning. Assured me insurance will not go up because it was an act by vandals. Only problem is I got 500 deductible and I know if whoever did this, keeps doing it, it will be 500 for each occurance. The adjuster said that from the way it sounds, it will be more than 500 to fix. I will know by Thursday afternoon after the dealer looks at it.

that really sucks, my truck got some crud splashed on the side that warped the paint.  I think it was either the dealer's bad paint job before when they fixed it or someone getting back at me by throwing something on the side of my truck.  I ended up getting it fixed which involved my truck being in the shop for 3 days an 100 out of my pocket for the deductible.  If you think the guys will come back just set up a camera if at all possible on your truck or have some buddies come over and take shifts watching it.  I like the taking shifts part myself that way if a person or persons come back you can all get them.  And if you're in the military I'm guessing you've probably got a lot of big friends.

you need to wire the body of your truck up so that juice is flowing through it, and when someone touches it with their key, they get knocked on their butt by the electric shock  :D

I am sorry to hear about your truck. I hope that you catch them. If you do, please let the law take care of them. It would be just a good persons luck that if you beat the crap out of them you would end up in jail.

I feel your pain although that hasn't happened to me, yet, I did lose my Camaro to theives and then almost lost my last truck as well.  I like the ideal of electrifying the truck but..............Hope you catch the scum

Bummer about your keyed truck.

If your dealers are anything like the one's here in Metro Detroit, find a reputable paint shop to repair your tailgate.

Any GM dealership in this area I've either taken vehicles to or friends have used, do a piss-poor job.  They don't seem to pay enough attention to detals.

Paint overspray, poor taping job, orange-peel paint, you name it.

Hope everything turns out for you!

My insurance company adjuster (GEICO) came up with a figure of $306.65 and said it should take 2 days to fix. The figure did not include emblem replacement on the tailgate. My deductible is $500.

Hall Pontiac GMC (where purchased) looked at it today. It will take 4 days to fix. Emblems will be replaced. They will try and buff out the door, which is not too badly scratched. Otherwise. they would have to remove molding and anything else attached to the door in order to paint, buff and blend. You can imagine trying to blend the metallic Indigo Blue paint. I'm ok with trying to buff it out instead of repainting the door. As it is right now, I have to squat down and look at it directly to even see the door scratch.

I told Hall in no uncertain terms that I would be very hard to please. It is a brand new truck (September) and I want it to look that way again. We talked about overspray, runs and orange peel. Many years ago, I worked in a paint and body shop for a summer and know just enough to be dangerous.

I am pretty sure the deductible will be met or very close to it. Hall did not quote a price and I did not ask for one. I did not want to deminish the impression of highest quality ONLY.

GEICO covers my rental up to $600 when I leave the truck at Hall's on 08JAN02. That was the soonest they could do it.

Here is one of the games that could be played out:

GEICO said to put it in on a Monday. Arrange for the rental from Enterprise on Sunday so Enterprise can meet me at Hall's with the rental on Monday morning.

Hall said, "Yeah, rentals don't run through the weekend and that is why they said to start on a Monday". I said, "So why are you starting on Tuesday (08JAN02) on my truck?" "We only start new jobs on Tuesday, not Monday anymore" they said.

Sooo...Let's see... the job will take 4 days and my rental will turn into a pumpkin on the weekend. I figure they set it up like this way ahead of time so I will feel compelled to accept the truck regardless of the condition on the Friday they said it would be ready. If it is not the quality job I REQUIRE, they WILL keep it even if I have to thumb around on the weekend. Oh, hey, maybe I should knock the dust off the Schwinn now.

No, I have not a clue as to who or why the truck was keyed. I have parked in a position where I look directly down on it from my third floor apartment. The old bolt action 5 shot Mosin Nagant model M91 sniper carbine lies by the window locked and loaded. I check the weather every few hours for windage. Elevation is to be determined  :D
