Hi all

..I Have a 2001 1500 HD with a 6.0L(150K miles) and while driving the truck today, it completely stalled while at a stop light. I was able to get the truck up and running but barely....it appears to be only running on a few cylinders and the only code I can get it to pull is P0300 multiple misfire. I thought it may be a bad coil but it should at least idle if only 1 or at the most 2 are bad...I can't get the truck to even idle at all. It will only start if I keep the rev's above 2k rpm, and it stumbles and bucks badly. I checked the fuel pressure as well and the pressure is around 50psi +/_ above 2k-3k rpm, What is the proper fuel pressure supposed to be? Any ideas what else the problem could be?

Update...Took the truck to a local shop where they have diagnosed that the cats are supposedly bad(clogged)...They claim the cats both got red hot once they got it running and so they dropped the exhaust off the manifolds and it will now idle on its own and on all 8.....Will the fuel pressure regulator cause the same simptoms? The shop wants to replace the whole exhaust from the manifolds back........$1800!!!!!!!

Funny thing is there was no loss in power, no symptoms prior to which usually happens with failing catalytic converters

Thanks in Advance

without mufflers and cats these trucks actually can gain a little power, funny huh? Dont spend $1800 on a new stock system, get 3" universal Hi-Flow cats, and if you wish to replace the dual in/out muffler with whatever you would prefer to. I'm putting dual 3" Super 44s on mine. Click the link in my sig to hear my exhaust ( magnaflow hi-flow cats & stock muffler ) Our engines are pretty much the same, just different front ends & tails :smash:

Is there something wrong with the Muffler? $1800?? You should be able to get a stock replacement Catalytic Converter direct bolt in for $350 to $400.
