'06 Access Door Squeaks

Recommended Posts

For the last couple of weeks, the passenger side access door on my '06 1500 Extended Cab has been squeaking and creaking over every bump and imperfection in the road. I've tried to shut it both gently and firmly and neither seems to help. The driver's access door is perfectly quiet. I'm trying to avoid taking it back to the dealer because I really don't trust that they'll do it right the first time, so is there any adjustments I can try to make before I take it in? Anyone else experience these squeaks with the access doors? Thanks.

I was able to loosen the brackets and move them enough to stop the squeaking in mine to not have to take it back to the dealer when my Sierra did that.

On my x-cab there is a loop bolted to the cab that the door latches onto at the top and at the bottom. When I had some creaking issues in the past I loosened up the bolts on one or both loops and moved them inward a hair or two so the door would latch tighter. Seemed to do the trick.

Like others have mentioned, mine is always fixed by applying silicone spray to the seals. I do it by spraying a foam paint brush and brushing it on. I also put some lithium grease on the latches whenever I lube the seals. This needs to be done about once a year on my 99.
