Dmax Daily Driver

i'm just wondering i'm looking at new trucks, mainly the seirra denali but am curious to know how a dmax would do as a daily driver? i'm not new to the diesel scene but i've never owned one either, that said i can't for see myself needing a dmax, as it'd only tow less then 6000lbs in the summer, any input would be great

It depends...If you can afford the diesel by all means get it, but it's not really meant to be a "daily driver" with few hauls. The mileage in the city will suck a lot also, newer diesels are pretty choked down with emissions.

I'm getting 21 HWY and 17 City and yes it's my daily driver. The power is great and there when you need it or just 'want' it.

I would like do get one myself! I mean deisil prices have there ups and lows in comparison to gas but usually are more fuel efficient, esp with tuner.

I have shared in other forums that my boss has one with over 200,000 miles without even breaking a sweat and its only a 2003. I love driving it too!

Diesels are excellent daily drivers with or without a load. As far as being choked down with emissions - not really. Sure there is a ton of new garbage on the newer models but performance continues to improve. Maybe longevity will be negatively impacted by the addition of the emissions - but the performance is still there.

My emission heavy 07 Furd gets 17 city, and 20+ on the highway. My emission light 03 Chevy performs similarly.

I know someone with an 08 PSD 6.4 and he gets about 10-13. F-350 Crew long bed 4x4 on 33s.

thanks again for the replys if i do get a diesel it'll likely be a dmax but i will look at the new ford

The new Ford's 6.4 Power Stroke takes up every inch of the engine bay - it's almost scary to see how much stuff they have crammed in there. I will probably go back to the Duramax for my next diesel. Although the new Ford 6.4 has had great reviews, I'm beginning to like the new GM HD design more than when it first launched + the interior still looks better than Ford's new offering. I still like the way a ford looks when lifted, so the choice will be difficult.

i have to agree, the engine bay on the ford is jam packed, but i've always found that with fords, i think i will likely get a seirra but we'll see how it all pans out

I went down to Myrtle beach last weekend and I saw a f-350 hooked up to a huge fifth wheel and the combo was being towed by a chevy duramax recker

If you really want to be impressed with the new Ford diesels, you have got to see when they do a major service on those things as they have to lift the cab off...very impressive but that is gonna be very expensive after the warranty expires. I was in the local for dealer two weeks ago on business and they had five in them in the shop with the cabs lifted - wow - impressive.
