Bed Caps !

I just bought some bed caps for my truck, they install with 3M tape. i installed them and the one on the pass side i got off just a tad, and when i shut my tailgate it rubs the bed cap and kinda cocks it over a little, and took a little paint off my tailgate

so my question is how can i remove the bed cap without damageing it ? it's stuck real good that 3M tape is good stuff. i would like to remove it and then replace it again..any suggestions ?

Thanks, Rodney

Use a hair drier and carefully pry them off. It also helps to do this in a warm garage or on a warm day in direct sunlight. I took a pair of bed caps off my old '99 longbed by just pulling... it went ok until almost the end when the plastic buckled and left a permanent white crease. But, my goal was just removing them anyhow.

Wait for a hot day or heat up the bed caps somehow. That will loosen the tape up and then just start at one end and pull up slowly. I have taken mine off before

Are these the hard plastic caps? I had those on my GMC for a while and they ended cracking on me.

I now have the Genuine GM caps, they are softer and fit perfect :smash:

Mine ran about $130 shipped from the GM dealer online. Much better quality and fit IMO. They even came with the caps for the stake holes.

mine was $80 +15 shipping= $95 total ! but on your last pic your caps are notch out where the tailgate shuts which gives you plenty of clearance. mine is not notch thus tailgate rubs :driving:
