How soon after purchase of a new vehicle does OnStar begin to send your diagnostic email? I've had my truck since the first weekend is September and have received nothing.

I'm beginning to dislike the whole OnStar thing, especially after they tried to charge my credit card twice. For some reason the charge wasn't showing up on their end so I had to fax them a copy of my statement to prove they charged me twice. Is this BS or what?

I had to call them and tell them to send it, because it didn't arrive for the first two months I was supposed to get it.

I had to call them and tell them to send it, because it didn't arrive for the first two months I was supposed to get it.

That's what I figured I'd have to do...but thought I would ask anyway. Also wanted to gauge how reliable OnStar has been to it's customers.

Just go online and subscribe to the diagnostic email. I got mine right away (within 24 hrs) after the initial OnStar call. They set me up when I made the intro call. Also, if you declined the "special deal" on calling minutes, you can still get it if you are a first time OnStar customer by buying them online.

My wife's car & 3 of my trucks have Onstar and we get diagnostic e-mail on all. In fact on my wifes car we got a notice that there was low voltage when we got home from a trip and the next day i took it to the dealer. Parked it out side the service door to get it wrote up and when the driver tried to take it in the battery was dead. Got new battery and it was a NC. This could have been a bad situation for my wife if she was at the Hospital at work.

We have been rear ended and Onstar called to see if we were OK and then called the police. Wouldn't be without it.

I for some reason never a get a email either even call Onstar 2 times and telling them I never get the email. I have learned to go to their website and create a account, log on and look at you diagnostics on line.

I think OnStar is great, but that stupid diagnostic email was just a huge frustration!

I signed up, made sure OnStar was on my email "safe senders" list, never got the email, spoke to an OnStar advisor to confirm my email address, was told to add OnStar to my "safe senders" list, still got no email, spoke to another advisor, reconfirmed my email address, was told again to add OnStar to my safe senders list, still no email, called OnStar and was referred to a technical advisor who never called me back, got a letter from GM telling me I needed to call OnStar to confirm my email address, called OnStar and re-reconfirmed my email address, still got no email, called OnStar and was told they basically had no clue why I wasn't getting the email and maybe I should just forget about it and go online to check for myself...

I finally did talk to a technical advisor who told me I was basically screwed. Apparently, there's something special about my internet provider that won't allow any of their emails to get through. Not just me, but apparently all the other million or so people who also use Telus. Sounds fishy to me.

Anyway, I don't miss it (not that I ever had it in the first place). From what I understand, it doesn't tell me anything that I don't know from the DIC, anyway.

I finally got one this morning. Called last night, evidently there were some "settings" on their end that weren't set properly, despite me giving them my email and confirmation during my "Welcome Call."

some day they will email the police if your speeding and your insurance company too.

Imagine getting a fine for speeding from what ever town your "GPS" says and you have no choice but to pay it. or your insurance rates go up based on emailed driving habits.. Future world is gonna be different
