Shatterz Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Hey All, my 96 K1500 is having some transmission (4l60e) issues when cold. The initial first shift from reverse to drive or drive to reverse results in a about a 2 sec pause accompanied by the engine rpms rising and a rather harsh slam into either gear. And this get worse as the temperatures drop into the cold winter months. Once I get going everything shifts solid without any harshness or signs of a problem. Truck only has 61,000 very well maintained miles on it and never towed anything. Transmission fliud level is correct and fluid & filter was changed (correctly by me) at 45,000 miles. Is something on it's way out and what part of the trans is causing this? Thanks
ryank1 Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Could be an issue with an internal seal, causing a pressure loss untill the unit gets hot and the seal expands.

ryank1 Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Unfortunatly it could be any internal seal in the trans.
