Yesterday, after owning the vehicle for 2 weeks, I punched it for the first time ever. And omg, it was d**n fast, way faster than my 5.4 triton that was in my 03 ford expedition which was totaled. VORTEC BABY

Yes,These VortecMAX's do run!!

They really run with some mods. Most guys on here swear by a "custom-tune" but I've had good luck with Hypertech modules/programers,Hypertech woke up my 6-liter.

I set it to run on premium fuel,changed the shift points of the transmission,and also firmed up the transmission shifts.

Dont feel bad, I don tthink there s much difference between your 5.3 and our 6.0 s. And a tune will make all the difference too.

Just a little mods and you will run over a Toyota, its there 6sp thats helping them not there motors.

My 6-liter don't do bad at all on gas,15/16 around town and 17/18 highway.

For the power I'm not complaining,Hell my brother had an '01 S10 4x4 and was only getting 14/15 around town and was lucky if he hit 17 on the highway.

My truck eats 20 bucks of gas everyday driving for like 30 minutes... Why does the gauge always show bulls**t gas? When it's close to empty, and im on a hill, it will show half and then slowly go back to normal.

Yall say the 5.3's are fast? I wouldnt consider my 2000 Sierra's 5.3 to be very fast, but I havent driven too many other vehicles.

I had a 2000 GMC Sierra Z71 with the 5.3 and I can tell you that it was quicker out of the hole than my Vmax, especially before I bought the Edge Evo. My 2000 would roast both back tires from a dead stop without powerbraking (it had the G80 locker too) and was bone stock. It was still drive-by-cable and had very little TM. The new 5.3's are also just as quick out of the hole as the Vmax's due to more TM used in the 6.0's. But once past that delay, the Vmax's haul a$$. The Edge Evolution also made a world of difference. I can now run 0-60 in 6.5 secs vs about 8 secs stock. These 6.0's have so much power that is just waiting to be unleashed. The Edge only releases a fraction of what's still left inside these engines. A custom tune, headers, exhaust etc will turn this into a Tundra-eating beast.
