07 Tahoe Daytime Running Lights

Is there any way to get the daytime running lights to go off when you put the vehicle in park? My 05 silveraldo did this but it seems that the ones on my Tahoe stay on all the time during the day. Is there a way to reprogram these to only come on when you shift out of park?

From 2007 Tahoe Manual:

The DRL system will come on when the following conditions are met:

• The ignition is on.

• The exterior lamps control is in AUTO.

• The transmission is not in PARK (P).

• The light sensor determines it is daytime.

If you Tahoe lamps are always on (including park, get your vehicle to the dealership, may be the BCM that needs updating)

what is a BCM? My 08 tahoe has what i believe to be an issue. the dashboard (cluster) lights will not turn off except at night. in other words i can not turn off the light to the cluster except at night. i can not even lowere the intensity. they showed me another 08 and it worked the same way..

BCM= Body Control Module, controls alot of the stuff that is body related (not engine and transmission) such as mirrors, memory settings, communications between various sensors, lighting control (not just flipping a switch anymore), radio/navigation control etc. I can look around for any tsbs and see if there are any solutions, my 2006 Silverado's DRLs turn on only when it is daylight and turn off and headlights turn on automatically (as well as the cluster), but I have not heard of the cluster lighting up unless the parking/headlights were on.

spoke with my local service manager and one of the techs, they have seen the drl's remain on in park have heard of the cluster remaining on when the headlights/parking lights are off, both the service manager and tech said that reflashing the BCM should take care of this problem. Take your truck in for the service visit for the DRLs. As for the cluster remaining on, I would first try to turn down the instrument panel brightness with the dial:

J: Dome Lamp Override Button/Instrument Panel Brightness Control

If that does not work, take it back in and insist on a solution. Ask to speak with the service manager, ask if this was a change, and where it is stated in the owner's manual (I did not find anything about this in the 2008 Tahoe's owner's manual)

turning down the intensity control has no affect. i was using the car yesterday and turnedoff the DRL. when it got dark enough to need lights the dash lights turned off too. pretty funny

Your cluster lights stay on all the time? I wish mine did..on my 2007 Yukon Denali with the dark colors of the backing and the dash itself, its hard to read the gauges during the day...one you can't even see!.Maybe thats why they are on all the time now, alot of complaints. Iam going to ask my dealer to make mine stay on all the time.
