Gm Hood Deflector Whistling On 2007 Silverado Nbs

I recently installed a GM Hood Deflector on my 2007 Silverado NBS. I immediately began to experience a whistling noise when driving. As speed increases, the whistling gets louder. The whistling starts to occur around 30-35 mph and by 60-70 mph, the radio has to be turned up quite loud in order to drown out the noise. I was wondering if anyone else with a GM hood deflector on a 2007 Silverado NBS was experiencing a problem such as mine? I do not hear any popping sounds, just the whistling. My 2004 Silverado experienced the popping sounds with the GM hood deflector and the problem was solved by applying double sided tape to the windshield moulding. Any possible solutions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Having already spent the money for the GM deflector, I would like to avoid spending more money on another brand deflector.

Try the double sided tape again, I remember this coming up awhile back and some guys said that it solved the problem.

Never understood the bug deflector.

Somebody please tell me. What possible good can a hood / bug deflector do? Everybody complains about the problems they have with theirs. Hardly seems worth spending money on. Is it just because they make it so you think you need one? Is it a fashion statemant?

To me, most of them look rather silly... like high fashion jewelry on a fat woman.

I got mine to help keep the hood from getting chips from stones and the rock salt ILLinois uses on the tollway

Hey, I had the same problem from the day I bought my truck. However mine was the popping sound. It was due to the GM hood deflector causing wind to deflect and raise windshield moulding. I brought it in to the dealer and they removed moulding and put adhesive all around the moulding and put them back on. That solved the problem. They told me that there is a couple of deflectors GM being one of them causing this problem. I think AVS was another brand causing same noise issue. Hope that helps.

Yeah sorry guys. I was playing the devil's advocate a little there. I know they protect the hood some but I can't get past the looks myself. My last truck had almost 100K on it when I sold it and it didn't have that many chips. I guess a lot has to do with where you drive and whether you like them or not. Everybody has an opinion... and a right to it! :)

its cool man, so long as ya dont over do it and go buck crazy (no offense to anyone here but I am never going to install a huge Ranch Hand Grille Guard, the most my truck will ever see is another car so I would rather go with something light like a Waag or Aries) with what you install. Some guys got a real need, some dont, you are right, it really does depend on where you live (thank god no bambis around)

One more reason not to run one IMO :)

My GMC had the GM accessories model when I picked it up at the dealer and I took it off a few months later. Over 150K later the hood looks great except a half dozen or so chips here an there. Nothing a truck with a deflector won't see.

I took mine off because I couldn't stand the way they look and how it caused my wiper solvent to go all over the place under speed.

On the GMT800 trucks, LUND made the GM Accessories hood deflectors, maybe it is the same on the GMT900 trucks?
