2008 6.0l Vvt - Rough Idle/missing

From what I undersant the GM PCM updates are cumulative, and I confirmed today my software is the latest. I'm going to try disconnecting the battery tonight to see if that does anything to help.

 

 

hi ,holy cow.,you don't have to disconnect the batteries,if the dealer said it is normal,please ask them to prove it with a known good vehicle,off the lot ,go for a drive ,if its normal,eat crow I guess.go to where you bought/leased the "burb",gl .

 

 

 

ok, mine does EXACTLY as corneredge described. I have a beautiful 07 avalanche FULLY loaded.

When I first drove it the salesman and service advisor said it was normal and once the vehicle was broken in I would notice a difference.

 

My vacuum is 15-16 at idle consistent. Three different dealers said to basically stop bothering them because they had no fix for it.

I plan on smoking out my intake with the artificial smoke machine on Monday. Hopefully I will find something the dealer will use.

 

A guy at my work has an 05 escalade with the 6.0 VVT and it runs smooth, I couldn't believe the difference. It makes me even more upset that the dealership doesn't care. Too bad Dodge ended the SRT-10 because i'd trade at this point.

Doesn't the escalade has the 6.2L engine?

 

I think its a flaw with the 6.0L intake. ter getting in my truck this morning, and it idling terribly, I'm going to persue a fix on my own as well.

 

I don't have the tools to smoke the intake myself, I might try propane or something. Let me know if you find a leak in a specific place.

 

I'm also planning on getting an aftermarket tuner so I can add a touch of fuel at idle. At least that should help smooth it out... we'll see. Let me know how your smoke test goes.

In '05 the Escalade would've been installed from the factory with either a 295hp LM7 5.3L (base engine if 2wd) or the 345hp LQ9 6.0-neither one has AFM or VVT.

Those GM Multec fuel injectors are the worst. Their coils short out when they get hot and stop working. I suggest replacing them with Bosch injectors. Could be a plugged/stuck pintle in the injector causes no gas to flow into one cylinder causing rough idle, misfires. google "dirty dozen fuel injector" reports on top 12 bad fuel injectors, GM Multec to the top 5 places. The worst was the GM 2.8L/3.1L engines with Multec injectors.
