Finally Recieved The 07 Sierra Gmc Mud Guards

I couldn't believe that when I bought my 07 Sierra that the GMC molded mud guards weren't available yet, but anyways I've got them now. I think I'll install them tomorrow. Saturday the "DIC" control panel is supposed to be delivered, that took too long as well. I ordered the control pane on OCT 26, and it is being delivered on 10 Nov. $95 delivered though from GMPartsdirect.

When did you buy your truck? I bought mine in March 07, and had the GMC molded mud guards installed before taking delivery.

I see your's is a Crew Cab. Maybe that's why. Anyway, sounds like you've got a good project lined up.

I bought mine about a month ago, but the dealer said they weren't available yet. I'm not sure if the new style sierra crew cab's are different or not.

Yep, the crew cab are different in the rear. When I bought my crew cab GMC in May, the dealer gave me a set of molded ones, but the backs didn't fit. Turned out they were for extended cab. I ended up just going with the contour guards which I actually prefer anyway.

Make sure you put extra 3M protection on your body where the mud flaps are going to go. My flaps rubbed my paint off since they were touching the body and free to vibrate. Once I get the chance I'm going to rattlecan the sections hidden by the flaps, stick on the 3M then put the flaps back on.

Dan, what 3M product are you referring to? I just picked up an 05 Silverado Z-71 CC and ordered the molded guards. I'll be installing them this weekend. Thanks.

I just installed my GMC guards today and they seem to be really secure. I don't forsee any vibration issues causing the flaps to rub my paint off unless the screws loosen. I'll keep an eye on them but I'd think GMC or Chevrolet would/should be liable if using their mud guards to prevent chipping ruining the paint actually caused paint failure. Maybe you guys have a different opinion or agree?

You can buy small rolls of the 3M clear body protection/bra. I used them to protect odd pieces on my last silverado and am planning to do the same with this one.

I just installed a set of custom molded Husky mudflaps on my truck. They cost under 60 dollars shipped to my door and came with 3M protective film. They went on easily, look great and seem to be very high quality. If you're looking for a set you can't go wrong with these.

Hey there - my first post on this forum! I just picked up my GMC Crew Cab two weeks ago, and was planning to spend some time this Holiday weekend installing the GMC Contoured Mud Flaps. I bought the parts from the dealer and wanted to install myself as I knew that the dealer would not take the time to put the 3M clear protector under them so they did not rub through the clear-coat.

Was looking at the parts this AM (before football and turkey!) and while the fronts seem to line up perfectly - the rears don't seem to be built correctly for the bed. Specifically, the bottom large bolt tab does not line up with the underneath part of the fender.

That made me sign up for the forum now vs. later as I was hoping that someone else had installed these. Based on a couple of the posts below - it looks like I may have the wrong part # for my Crew Cab and perhaps have the flaps for the extended cab.

Fred07Sierra - can you tell me what the part #'s are on your rear flaps????? Thanks a bunch. Looking forward to participating in the forum.

Some here state that vibration with GM contoured mud guards will cause the paint to come off then surface rust. I have no idea if this is correct or not.

I purchased the Husky Liners contoured with the 3M clear tape. Just in case. I had my Husky's installed by dealer before pick up. The mechanic stated that sometimes the tape will come loose. So, I guess there is no perfect solution.

You may have the rears for an extended cab with 6'5" bed. Same thing happened to me this past summer, and at the time they didn't have the ones for crew cab with 5'8" bed. I went with the flat contour ones instead (no problems with paint rubbing either).
