Kicked An Imports Ass

Recommended Posts

Today I raced a 2006 Nissan Maxima. We were on a hill and my buddy came next to me and started revving his engine. SO I thought to myself this guy wants to get his ass kicked. Soon as the lights turned green I floored it and to my suprise I totally kicked the Maximas ass. My truck and my friends car are both stock. VORTEC MAX BABYYYYY

Must of been a 2.5L maxima? I'm going to tell you right now there's no way in Hell you could beat a 3.5 v6 Maxima. Not much different from the altima 3.5 which I own that does mid 14's in the 1/4 mile.

That's cool, I haven't tuned it either. I unbadged my V-Max and I tinted all the windows on my V-Max. Do you feel the delay of power in your max? I want to tune mine because of the delay in power and exhaust so it will sound mean.

I'm not sure of the delay, I can't remember. (adrenaline rush ;)) This was the second time I floored it. Can you tell me what the delay does?

also is it bad flooring it? (for the engine)

Well the delay on mine happens when I floor it, it doesn't pull hard until like 2 to 3 seconds and after that it just smashes. It also doesn't let my truck peel out when I floor it, even with traction control off. I had an 06 5.3 and it would peel out sick and it would pull instantly when I would floor it. That's why I want to get a tune soon on my V-Max because it has a lot of power but the stock tune kills the performance of my truck.

Is it bad flooring it? (for the engine) lol. thx

negative. The engine likes it :uhoh: Keeps the carbon from building up inside is what I say!

I guess If you floor all the time it could be bad for the engine. I used to floor my 06 all the time and it ran good all the way until I traded it in.

I floor my 26K lb. GVWR gmc topkick 5500 everytime I hit the accelerator (8.1L big block) and it's lasted the company 108K miles so far. There simply isn't a truck that is more abused then that poor Schwan's truck (or burns more oil :uhoh: ). Every stop light is pedal to the floor to 4500rpm. If anything the tranny has more problems that develop over time than the engine.

The hesitation you guys are referring to is the torque management kicking in. It's supposed to keep the abusive maneuvers from hurting the transmission too much.

A tune will help that tremendously.

But for now...The best way to launch your truck is to roll into it. I know it's hard to do, but don't floor it from a stop (or stall it up). Just give it about 1/2 throttle or so, and it'll take off harder...THEN roll into it, putting your foot to the floor.
