06 Silverado factory radio. Im trying to pull it out to connect an input adaptor and i can only get the radio to come out about 1/3 of the way. I am afraid to pull too hard and break something. Help! thanks

They've got screws in them now?

I thought they just had the two tabs on the sides.

I've not done an '06, so I'm not sure.

My '02 just slid right out...Except for the harness coming from the cassette player was WAY too short and would keep it from sliding out like what it seems you're saying. A real PITA to plug back in when putting it back together too. I had to squeeze my paws behind there to plug/unplug it. Tight squeeze.

Yeah, the new ones do have screws. But you'll probably need to remove the AC controls so you can reach under it and disconnect the cable, or whatever is holding it back.

I agree with omegafiler. When they put the radios in, the probably don't leave much slack in the cables sometimes. If you remove the dash, you can get more slack on the cables. Some of the connectors are hard to undo, so I am not sure there is another way to safely remove it in your case without removing the dash.

I had the same issue when I installed my Nav system in my 04. The cables just don't have enough slack to allow the radio to be pulled out. Just remove the AC/Heater control underneath, it comes out petty easy; two screws, and two clips, one on each side. If you take a small scredriver you can work each clip out (have to depress top and botom on both sides). Once the AC/Heater control is out (the cables should be long enough to let it hang or you can take them off to get it completely out of the way if you need), it should give you enough room to reach up behind the radio to release the connectors and antenna. Good luck.

Yah, you do have to take the AC control out, then reach up from below the radio and free the wires up. Mine did the same!
