okay so here's my situation and just to calm my nerves i'd like your opinoins..

about two weeks ago i switched to full synthetic... love it!! csn goes away so quickly now! anyways, well i accidentally put 93 in my truck.. yes and don't ask how.. the day after i got it and i have to say WOW!?!@$!! it woke the truck up like crazy just with the little gas change, well anyways I'm 20 and in college and have job that takes up 70% of my time so with gas being 3.40$ a gallon i went back to 87... now the truck seems like it is a DOG... doesn't wanna kick it even with the hammer to the floor she seems lost? is this because the computer adapted to the 93 then went all the way back to 87? I'm not sure is there something else wrong here?

on top of the power loss i've also lost about 25 miles to the 1/4 gallon.. i used to get 100-105 the other day i got 56... ? its steadily gone up to 70 but thats with driving like a grandpa...

your help would be appreciated

steve..

the computer has to reconfigure itself, disconnect the battery an hour or so and then reconnect it and take the truck out on a 30-45 minute drive on the highway with just 87 octane gas in the tank.

Ive been getting like 60-70 to the 1/4 i have the 26 gallon tank, I changed plugs and wires but that didnt do anything, so might as well just pay for fuel rather then keep buying things to try to help mpg, last tank i used 15 gallons to go 160 miles

Maybe they just switched to the winter blend of gas? That happens right around this time of year.

I use 93 because the truck runs noticabley smoother. I don't see a noticable MPG benefit between 87 and 93 for normal driving, but about 1/2-1 MPG better when towing. I choose to pay the little bit extra for the 93. Here it's about 20-30 cents more for the 93 over 87. If you figure out the extra cost over 1 year (about 14k miles) it's only about $200 more which is nothing considering the over-all cost (about 5-10% more).
