Gmt900 New Tire Concerns

I have a 2007 Silverado Vmax 4x4 extended cab and want to stick some 275/60-R20 Michelin LTX MS tires on it. From eyeballing it, the tires look like they should fit. The tread is only about .5 of an inch further from the wheel than the stock tires and there appears to be 3/4" of space between the tire and mudflap when the wheel is cranked.

Will I have any problems fitting these tires? The tread isn't as aggressive as a comparable Nitto Terra Grappler and it definitely doesn't have tread blocks sticking off of the edge that far.

If I need a leveling kit, what size? 2 inch? 2.5 inch? I don't plan to run a tire bigger than this.

Who would I get a leveling kit from?

Any problems with a rough country kit?

I have the same truck as you but have the short box, mine is in edmonton though.

I ordered a set of Nokian Vativa's 275/55/20. It is hard finding tires in this size. I wanted to order Toyo A/T that were 60's and I was told they would not fit without trimming.

All that I do know is that the stock goodyears look like they would suck in snow. Mine are worn out already anyway (well the back two are.....)

The Michellin LTX M/S is an excellent all-season tire. As far as fitting, I'd just check with your local tire shop, such as Discount Tire. They have good service and can definately tell you if something is going to fit or not. And if it doesn't, they'll swap 'em out for you.

But if you're rubbing against plastic or panels, you'd normally need a lot more than a leveling kit. Typically some trimming is required.

Thanks, I will have to talk to them.

I am throwing around the idea of buying 18" wheels and tires now. Not sure what size tire I can fit if I put the 2.5" level on though.

Got the tires and the 2 inch levelling kit on. I got the rough country kit and simply installed it myself. I ordered the tires from tirerack, saving a ton of money and then quickly swapped the tires and balanced the wheels after work one day. It goes alot faster when you ignore the TPMS sensors. People told me that I'd have to remove the sensors, but if you're careful when removing the old tire and mounting the new one, you can leave the sensors alone. The 275-60/R20 tires barely fit, with the wheel cranked there is about 1/4 inch of clearance between the corner of the tire and the mudflap.
