Fluids ?

Hello I recently purchased a 2001 Silverado and want to change the fluids in the front & rear diffs, transfer case and transmission. I want to use Royal Purple synthetic but im not sure which to use where. Can anyone point me in the right direction in regards to this?? THank you

Trans fluid depends on the type of factory fill...pretty sure your Dexron III

 

GM DEXRON, DEXRON-II, DEXRON-IID arrowMax ATF

 

GM / Ford - DEXRON III, MERCON arrowMax ATF

 

GM DEXRON-IIIG and H arrowMax ATF

 

GM - DEXRON VI no RP equivalent

 

Rear ends...light duty

 

ArrowMax-Gear 75W90

I am not beating up on RP at all but before you make this move, contact Amsoil and ask them to send you a copy of the ind lab report they have comparing about 10 brands or gear oils. RP certainly performed well in some categories as most others but it also failed in some areas. However, there were a few that did well in most all categories. The OE GM gear oil performed very well if I remember right and ranked higher than many of the others.

 

It is a very good piece eventhough some feel it is biased towards Amsoil.

I must agree with Trey. If you are going to go with high end Syn then you would do much better with Amsoil.
