Factory Trans. Temp. Gauge Accuracy?

Recommended Posts

I would say the sensor in the trans is capable of reading with good accuracy, the problem is with the gauge itself.

What kind of temps are you running when not towing? When towing? and what are your towing?

Well, I haven't towed with the Burb yet, I just bought it. But in regular interstate (70-75mph flat ground) driving, it runs under 150, probably in the 130-140 range.

On the '01 2500HD 6.0 that I have been using to tow, it would run 150 towing at 70mph, unless you hit a big hill, then it might get to 170 briefly. I haven't towed with either in the heat of summer yet though.

I have always added larger trans. coolers on my vehicles and I'm wondering on the Burb if it's actually needed. I would like to not run over 170 in 100 degree heat at 70mph when towing in hills.
