My 07 NBS Silverado plays Mp3's with what sounds like the same radio, pretty sure your truck would too. Pretty cool can fit around 150 songs or so on 1 cd.

Mine playe WMA and MP3 files. We burn CDs for the cars all the time. Even lossless MP3s make it easy to get 2 or 3 CDs worth of music on one CD. If you like compressed MP3 sound quality you can get a lot more on.

I can't stand mp3's, especially on a nice soundsystem... If your ripping your own cd's I'd recommend using windows media player with the lossless wma option. Songs will be about 30 megs, but sound nice, and like Jim said you can fit a couple cds on one disc. Sorry for the rant, I just hate listening to music with no range....

the radio isnt gonna choke on 320kbits/s files ?

I have a huge MP3 collection due to Djing I was using a p3 1000 rackmount PC back in 2000 for club work and weddings, I still use it today along with laptops, in the begining we used 128kbits/s files I now use 320 for better sound quality, I avoided the 128s at the club the sound system was way too good for them.

Yeah right now my lowest is 650 and the average is 1000... haha sucks up the memory real fast... although 320 does the trick for the most part. I started buying cds just for the quality... I can't justify buying music on itunes for 128kbs songs... While were on the subject how is the soundsystem in the NBS?

pretty good for a stock system, I love the jack in the front you can hook your laptop up and watch movies while waiting for the wife to shop LOL. just upgrade the speakers and that would be the biggest improvement. a quality sub system wouldnt hurt.

years ago 1989 :D I stuck 2x12" subs and a bunch of other crap in my vette between that and years of djing my ears are shot. I did buy a nice 12" DEF Tech sub for the house. I must have 100 speakers with my 18" pair of earthquakes for djinf and my Dual 15 JBL tour cabinets. I actually hooked those earthquakes up in one of my trucks just :0

pretty good for a stock system,

I'll agree that low quality MP3s sound like total crap. To top that the iTunes stuff has the worst sound quality since the 8 track tape. They sell it because today's average listener wouldn't recognize quality audio if it was hanging from their testicles. Apple will keep feeding them this low quality crap as long as they are unrefined enough to buy it..

The general public believes quantity is more important than quality. How else could you possibly explain WalMart's rise to power?

None of thet compressed dribble for me, thank you. I use WMA lossless files mostly. The sound quality is at least passable... especially in the truck. I believe the stock GMT900 sound system is quite above average, but mine will be replaced soon. I have a Nakamichi head unit that just can't wait to be installed.

nice HU, you think that is tough, try justifying $70,000.00 worth of mixing gear just so my regular music can be true HD in 7.1 surround sound. too bad that my truck cant reproduce the music.....
