Crankshaft Swapping

I have a 1998 5.7 litre vortec engine with a damaged crankshaft (spun rod bearings )and a 1988 350 tbi eng ine with a undamaged crankshaft , both engines have the same casting number 14088526 on the crank journals . I'm wondering if I can save myself afew bucks and use the TBI crank in the vortec block , any help will be much appreciated

I messed up , my tbi engine has a 14088535 crank casting and my vortec has the 14088526 crank casting ,but still as far as i can tell from searching on the net these cranks have the same specs so my question again is can i use the 14088535 crank in my vortec block and would I have any other problems

yes, shouldn't have any problems if older cranks is ok.

well I had the original crank machined and left the other motor complete .now I'm wondering if I should order all my gaskets from an aftermarket store or the dealer .

also do I need to replace the headbolts or should I reuse the original ones ?

Felpro gaskets are about the best IMO. I think they even make OEM gaskets and I know some GM parts recommend Felpro gaskets. Some people say never reuse head bolts, I have reused them on some virgin engines. They are cheap enough to replace, I think about $20-$25 per head last time i bought stock replacement bolts, a performance set (both heads) from ARP is about $70.
