Water Leak In Passenger's Floor Board

Do you have a sunroof? I had the same problem, and couldnt ever figure it out. Finally the dealership found out that one of the drain tubes to my sunroof somehow got disconnected. They hooked it back up, and no leaky since. Good luck

I do have a sunroof and I've poured water down the drains and it runs out at the bottom of the firewall/fenderwell. It's raining here STILL but in between showers I opened the sunroof and looked inside the track. NOT a drop of water anywhere under the sunroof, not in the gutters or anything. It could still be a suspect but it's bone dry and it's been raining here since Friday morning. Basically I've got a plastic mat, Husky Liner, catching the water so the carpet/padding is dry and just empty it every morning. I don't drive the Suburban often but it seems to leak when it's sitting still. The sunroof drain runs down the A-pillar and looks to dump into the fresh air / cowl area (goes through the body there anyway) and it seems to be connected. No water behind the A pillar trim but the water is dripping from under the dash in that area, above where the passengers right foot would be. There is water dripping from the fan motor area also but the truck has not been driven in weeks so the A/C isn't the culprit here. Everything is clean in the fresh air intake area, no leaves, mold, moss, etc..... This is driving me crazy!!!!!!!

I've got the same problem in my 06 Silverado CC Z71, but I am thinking mine is related to a faulty installation of my windshield. I need to have the dealership re-install it at some point, if it weren't for my husky liners my carpet would be shot

My '02 Escalade passenger floor is soaked.

Today I noticed my '01 Yukon passenger floor is a tad moist also.

I haven't seen an update to this thread since Sept'09.

Has there been any progress on this subject?

My 99 K3500 truck has the same problem behind the glove box at the black ducting? Water drips after washing or a rain. When you turn on the fan after a rain you can hear water slosh around and then turn to hi and the water slosh will slowly go away? I have NO idea what the problem is????

We had a pretty good down pour the other night.

I checked my Escalade and it was soaked.

Knowing it was going to rain, I pulled the threshold and kick panel covers and rolled back the carpet, the day before so I might be able to see where the leak is.

What I noticed was that the bottom hole for the kick panel clip was full of water.

So I'm guessing my leak might be behind there somewhere.

It's below freezing here the last few days so I can't really test it for leaks plus the jute padding and towels I threw down to soak up the water are now frozen solid.

Since the drain tube for the sunroof runs thru that pillar that I found full of water,

that will be the 1st thing I'm gonna check.

Hopefully, a clogged tube is causing my leak.

I'll post more as I investigate further.

I'm just hoping for some above freezing weather to gimme a chance to check it.

Soaked floor boards again last night.

I believe I solved the problem! (Fingers crossed)

After tearing apart the interior & dash so I can visually inspect any possible water entry points, I ran the Escalade thru the local car wash with me inside.

Sure enuff the leak reappeared.

Water was seeping onto the floor board from behind the wiring at the base of the "A"pillar.

I discovered that the flex hose that covers the wiring thru the "A" pillar and into the door was not seated and sealing properly to the "A" pillar.

I removed and reseated the rubber duct.

Then retested the spot with a garden hose.

The leak was still present.

I realized that due to the cold temps here in NY that the rubber was stiff and not conforming to the "A" pillar.

Therefore not creating a tight seal.

I thought about possibly adding silicone to create a better seal.

Then I decided to try and warm the rubber duct work with a heat gun thus loosing the rubber which let it seal better.

After a retest. NO MORE LEAK!

I replaced the water soaked and stinking Jute padding with new padding and buttoned everything up.

Hopefully the problem will not return.

Twodogs, have you solved your problem? I have a 2004 Suburban and am experiancing same problem. I have done many of the same things that you have and no luck. Do you have anything new to add. Have you looked at those clips at the bottom of the windshield? Just thinking that if they have a long stem and are pushed into a hole, that would give water a way to get in and by pass the firewall trough. I will be tearing the cowling off again this weekend to look and use sealent(3rd time).

I have a 2006 Silverado short bed, two door, no sunroof with the same issues. Passenger side seems to get soaked first, if prolonged heavy rain occurs, then the drivers gets the same soaking. I have checked my seals where the wires from the door come through and they appear to completely cover and seal to the a-pillar. With the amount of water, it has to be coming from the cowl area where the water enters and is suppose to drain. Any more updates from anyone? I am going to have to pull my carpet back and replace the jute as it's soaked! Thanks - Mike Jones

I have been chasing a leak on the passenger side of my 2004 Sierra extended cab for about a month now. I actually had water entering in more than one spot. Of course, I started with the weather stripping. There was a leak at the point the two doors close on the top weather stripping which I solved by adjusting the door strikers so the doors would close a little tighter. However, I still had water getting into the cabin on the passenger side. I removed the plastic kick panel that covers the wiring under the door and the channel there was full of water. After I dried it out I watered the truck with a garden hose and found water coming from what looked like the rear wall of the truck (behind the back seat). It turns out there was water leaking in from a vent in the rear wall of the passenger cabin. If you look between the cargo box and the cab you will see a plastic insert on each side of the truck. In order to remove it you will have to remove the back seat and some of the plastic trim paneling. They are just clipped into place. You might be able to get a new one from the dealer and replace it. I think the rubber may have deteriorated a little and it is not making a seal like it might have when it was new. I removed the vent and put sealant on the rubber gasket and re-installed the vent. I just did this and hope I won’t have any more leaks. If I find some other crazy point of entry I’ll make an update to the post.

Did anyone ever find the final answer to the water leak problem. My Suburban is parked on an incline toward the front and the water gethers on front passanger side but the carpet is wet further back. One time when driving we found water under the glove box when it was raining so it must be coming in higher up. I have tried many of the things mentioned. Any HELP
