Water Leak In Passenger's Floor Board

Had the problem on my 05. Found out it was leaking from the windshield and dripping down the side. I was able to confirm it by lowering the headliner a bit and feeling around up there while going through a high pressure car wash. A new windshield or re-seal of the windshield would have fixed the problem, but I sold the truck first

idk if i posted in here before but i had a water leak where my passenger side floor was getting wet...i thought it was coming from the winsheild, door, somewhere in the front for 3 months.

 

It turned out to be the 3RD BRAKE LIGHT. the seal around it was all messed up and corroded and i caulked it now it hasnt leaked a drop

I couldn't remember if I ever posted the fix for the floorboard leak or not but I ended up putting HVAC tape around the A/C plumbing where it passes through the firewall. I still can't believe this is where the water came from because it didn't seem to get wet during periods of rain. Never the less, the floor has been dry now for over a year......fingers crossed!

we had water sloshing back and forth under the passenger sill plate ,truck was a ford expedition ...cop truck,,its cause ,,,after alot of water spraying was a hole the radio installers put thru the harness boot to run wires.....sigh lol

Well it's still leaking...........The water is dripping behind the corner of the dash and ends up behind the kick panel at the passengers right foot. It has soaked the solenoid for the RAP (Retained Accessory Power- what keeps the electronics on after you shut off the key until you open the door or it times out) and shorted it out. If you reach in behind the glove box and put your hand on the door for the "fresh air/ recirculate air" door flapper there will be a few drops of water on the foam there also. I've sprayed thoasands of gallons of water while looking and been to 2 windshield repair shops to no avail. I've asked to R& R the windshield both times and they said it wasn't the windshield and that they might break it during the removal process. I've blown out the sunroof drains but they work great and the track area is dry up there. It only seems to leak when the truck is sitting, don't notice anything while it's being driven. Any one else experienced anything like this?

Sounds similar to my '06 Torrent. Only mine is wet in the centre of the vehicle under the dash/console area. Haven't been able to find the leak yet.

I may have found your problem. I was having the exact same problem as you and same frustrations for that matter. I am pretty sure that the drain for your sunroof is shooting water in to that square box in the cowl area where air gets sucked in for your heater. Some water is going where it should and that is out onto the ground but some is going into that opening. I opened my sunroof and laid a garden hose in the front trough of the sunroof and pointing towards the right drain hole. Then turn the water on just slightly but so you have a pretty good flow going. Then get a flashlight and climb up and lay down on your motor. You will have to have removed the long plastic cowl vent panel from bottom of windshield area prior. Now shine your flashlight into your cowl panel towards the right side of your truck so that you can see that square opening that allows air into your heater. If you can see that square box way back inside there you should be able to see the water flowing out of your sunroof drain. Mine was shooting some of the water right into that square opening and down onto my passenger mat. The fix was to remove the right interior windshield pillar moulding. The drain tube will be right there. I found that there is a rubber grommet on the drain tube that fits into the hole in the firewall. My grommet popped out on one side and allowed the drain tube to point a bit askew and into that square opening. I felt that there was too much drain tube extending through the firewall as well so I pulled the tube out of the firewall and cut about 2 inches off of it and then threaded the tube back in to the hole in the firewall. With a long screwdriver I could ensure that the rubber grommet was seated properly. I then ran water again and it did not shoot into that square opening anymore and best of all not onto my floor. My problem completely fixed - hopefully yours to.

Under the wiper arm plastic cover that keeps leaves and debris out of the wiper control area, there is a plastic molded cover on the passenger side that is directly over the heater box air intake. Remover that cover and reseal it. It looks as if it is a molded part of the box but is actually a plastic lid with a self adhesive seal. If you can lift any part of that lid with your finger nail it is leaking.
