2008 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 Regular Cab Long Bed.

Does your engine bay get dirty easily?

I've had this nice new truck for over a month now and the engine bay gets splashed with muck and road dirt.

I have already had to detail (wash) the entire engine compartment including the inside hood, firewall, and all the hoses and black plastic parts.

Hey, I got a nice new shiney truck. I want to keep both the inside and outside clean for a long time.

I love showing off my nice new GREEN truck and when I open the hood, I want that to look good too!

I've had cars where the engine bay never got dirty except for some light dust. This new 2008 GMC Sierra seems to get road splash all over the place.

Don't get me wrong here, I do like the truck. Did the designers miss this point or the bean counters?

Any simple solutions?

Haven't noted that problem yet, but then have only had truck for 1 week. Will let you know if I have the same problem.

I think its simply because they sit up so high. I had a 2005 before my 2008 and it didint get so dirty. Nothing really changed in the engine since 2005 except battery location. The hood/grille/bumper/lights fit tighter with less gaps so that cant be it, so Im just assuming its coming from underneath because of the height.

At 4000 miles mine still looks about the same as it did new except for a little dust on the plastic surfases... that's about it.

Mine does, but up in my area we get snow and they cover every inch of pavement with salt so when the snow melts it turns to salt water and gets sprayed on the inside of my engine bay. I think it is becuase they sit up high then the front is cocked down and it scoops it all up.

Well, i was just out filling up my washer fluid in my very salty truck and was a little surprised to see how dirty/salty it was in there... even on the under side of the hood. Guess i will be hitting the self-serve car wash tomorrow, then only to clean it off again in two days. Geez i hate this state...
